| Description: | The Stainforth and Keadby Canal has steadily emerged as an exciting pike water over the last couple of years. Primarily known as a match venue, the "Stainy Canal" emerges from the New Junction Canal at Kirk Bramwith, near Doncaster and tracks east through South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire until Keadby where it bumps into the River Trent. Along the way the canal passes through Thorne, where, apart from the ones at either end, its only lock can be found (see Google image). Pike to more than twenty pounds have been taken along the Thorne stretch with a good head of double figure fish keeping many anglers happy. This stretch is full of features such as boat yards, trees and lilies, bridges and the lock all worth a try with deadbaits producing well. The canal is regularly match fished.
