Venue Type: Gravel Pits
Description: Wykeham Lakes near Scarborough burst onto the angling world with the capture of a massive pike in the Autumn of 2010. Jake Finnigan used a Rapala Super Shad Rap lure to land this fish of a lifetime which tipped the scales at 39lb 15oz. There are five lakes on the site of this gravel workings. Two trout lakes, a carp lake, match lake, and the specimen pike fishery named The Winter Lake. Covering 9 acres and with depths of more than 30 feet, Winter lake is set up for the specimen angler with plenty of room for bivvies, night fishing for the season ticket holders, and plenty of stalking opportunities.
Directions: From Scarborough, take the A170 towards Pickering. After 5 miles turn left onto Church Lane to the fishery.
Season: Open all year except Christmas Day

Facilities:
  •  Fishing lodge with toilets
  •  Bait, tackle & light refreshments available from lodge
Rules:
  •  Day Tickets must be purchased before commencing fishing.
  •  Tickets are not transferable and rod sharing is not permitted.
  •  ANGLERS should be in possession of a valid Environment Agency Rod Licence before commencement of fishing.
  •  LITTER WILL NOT BE TOLERATED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES AND ANGLERS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE FISHERY IF IN BREACH OF THIS RULE
  •  Barbless/Semi Barbless trebles are acceptable for Pike fishing).
  •  Minimum 36 inch landing nets and unhooking mats.
  •  No fixed leads/feeders are to be used.
  •  Children under 16 are not allowed on the Winter Lake unaccompanied.
  •  No dogs or radios.
  •  An angler may bring one non-fishing companion to the fishery. He/She must remain with the angler at all times or remain in the cabin or car park area.
  •  All fish should be returned to the water quickly and carefully.
  •  Fishing times will be as displayed at the lake entrance.
  •  Night fishing is only permissible for Season Ticket Holders and their guests.
  •  No refunds will be given.
  •  Anglers are advised to use a minimum line strength for pike and carp of 10lbs.
  •  Any infringement of the above rules will result in the individual being asked to leave the fishery.
