River Torne - Epworth Road Bridge to Pilfrey Bridge This is one of my favourite places to pike fish. It is little more than a land drain crossing the moorland to the east of Doncaster and connected to many other land drains at the intersection at Pilfrey bridge.

This double figure pike paid the ultimate price for having eyes bigger than her belly when she choked to death on a jack pike. I made the gruesome discovery whilst spinning for pike on an estate lake situated in the grounds of the Prison Service College, Newbold Revel. The pike had come to rest close to the margins in 18 inches of water. At first I wasn't sure that she was dead and as I nervously attempted to scoop her out I jumped when I thought she had twitched. Thankfully I arrived too late to try mouth to mouth.
